About two or three hours before you dance, you should eat some food. You do not want to work out on an empty stomach or you will feel weak and you will not be able to push yourself. At the same time, you do not want to eat too close to when you will be exercising or you could feel sick and you could have very bad cramps. Eat something that will give you a lot of lasting energy so that you are ready to go.

It is also wise to be well hydrated before you turn on the dance workout DVD. Your body needs water if it is going to function at such a high level. Without it, you will get a headache and you could even feel faint. Professional athletes know the value of hydration, which is why they always have so much water on the sidelines. You should not neglect this just because you are in your home. You need to drink water all day long, and you should drink extra before you work out. Again, though, you will want to give yourself some time so that the water can settle in your stomach.

Stretching is something that a lot of people ignore. It is not very fun and it can take a long time. They do not see the point because it does not directly help them to get into better shape and to lose weight. However, stretching is one of the most important things that you can do. You need to make sure that your muscles are ready to be used extensively in a way that they have not been used all day long. If you do not stretch and you just start dancing, you could hurt yourself badly enough that you will not be able to dance for weeks. It is worth it to take a few minutes to stretch so that you can start exercising on a regular basis.
