Bird Control
Why Bird Control is so Important
Bird control refers to the need to control nuisance birds in a domestic or commercial environment. Pigeons, sparrows, starlings and buzzards account for just some of the species that can quickly become pests if left to form a nest.
There are several reasons these birds are considered troublesome. As well as being flocking breeds, they have incredibly loud calls that over time become annoying. Their faeces are also unsightly and can cause considerable damage to buildings and property.
Most importantly, bird excrement poses a serious health risk to humans if not cleaned properly. Birds are the perfect mechanism for spreading disease because they travel great distances, harbour over forty types of parasites and can host over sixty types of infectious diseases internally.
Fortunately, human interaction with most bird species is minimal, thus drastically reducing any health threat from most birds. However, a few bird species have successfully adapted to our urban environment and have learned to thrive by living in our buildings and eating our food.
For these reasons, several methods of bird control exist to stop these bothersome creatures from taking up residence in our homes and workplaces. One such method is anti-roosting bird spikes, a simple device that can be glued to any window, pipe or ledge and deters birds from landing without hurting them.
Bird netting is also used to stop pest birds from taking up residence. Bird wire is very effective against birds, such as pigeons, particularly in areas where their presence is only a very light population. This method is ideal for new buildings and will deter birds from landing.
If you find yourself with a bird problem and are unsure about what to do, the best advice is to employ the services of a professional bird control expert. You will save yourself stress, time and money in the long run.
